On Wednesday, February 20, a total lunar eclipse occurred. The eclipse lasted for approximately three hours and could be seen throughout the Western Hemisphere. While the Earth experienced a lunar eclipse, anyone standing on the moon would have experienced a solar eclipse at the same time. Refracted light from this solar eclipse caused the moon to appear deep red during the eclipse. There will not be another total lunar eclipse until December 2010.
