Wandering through Washington, D.C.

Earlier this month I took a vacation to a place so rich in history that it overflows with beginnings and originality. It's the city that radiates honor and respect for leaders past and present and houses our nation's capital: Washington, D.C.

Attention college students: Are you heading to ‘The Most Magical Place on Earth’?

Walt Disney World -- maybe it’s the combination of sweltering heat and entertainers dressed as life-size rodents that terrifies you. It could be the presence of more strollers than you could ever fathom and the screaming children that occupy them that makes such a place seem like a hellish nightmare.

There is no place like home... except London

I once again find myself surrounded by mountains of clothes. Unfortunately for me, I’m not packing for my trip to London but instead to go home. I must say, however, that it is still quite difficult.

A tale of two tellies

If there is one thing I can say for the English, it is that they love their soaps.

Birthplaces and beaches

No matter how great living in a city is, there is a point in time when the hustle and bustle is no longer exciting but instead becomes just plain tiring.

The Luck of the Irish goes up in smoke while I eat pasta…

Not that I don’t have enough to experience in London, but being a hop, skip and a jump away from so many other beautiful countries makes travel both easy and incredibly tempting.

Confessions of an over-packer

My room is an absolute wreck. I’m not talking about a typical college student’s unorganized room with scattered shoes and dirty clothes on the floor. I mean one that’s definitely a fire hazard and could potentially be declared a disaster area.

UK nightclubs dance to a beat of their own

There has been a long running joke about European music. Of course there is always some truth to the stereotype; for instance, there are a lot of nightclubs and pubs that play the "European" techno music. One of our favorite pubs, Salt, transforms from a nice nautical pub during the day to a packed nightclub at night.

Fashion-friendly and self-confident

One of the first things I noticed when I arrived here was the difference in fashion. People here, especially in London, are very trendy. I've even noticed that older women are more fashion-forward here than in the States.

For better or for worse

But seriously, I have already survived the little things, as all college students are familiar with, when moving to a new place.

The case of the mistaken identity

The interns and I went to Edinburgh (pronounced Edinburra), Scotland, during the weekend. It's a gorgeous place and is personally my favorite city. We arrived the day after Burns night on Thursday, Jan. 25.

Accents are simply 'wicked'

There's this huge uproar in the U.K. about "Celebrity Big Brother."
