Ohio ends Penn State rivalry with two losses

The Ohio Bobcats faced the Penn State Icers at Bird Arena for the last time in their historic rivalry for two games this weekend, but were unable to win either with a 2-1 loss Friday and a 4-1 loss Saturday.



‘Cats extend win streak to four

The Ohio Bobcats men’s basketball team (17-4, 5-2 MAC) was able to knock off the MAC West leading Ball State Cardinals (12-6, 4-3 MAC) in the final game of their four-game home stint, 59-55.



Bobcats grind out fourth MAC victory

If the game were to be described in one word, “pretty” would not be an appropriate adjective. However, Ohio (16-4, 4-2) was able to grind out a hard-fought 56-51 victory over Western Michigan (9-11, 3-3) Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.



Bobcats’ Wrestling run over by Kent State and Bloomsburg

The Ohio Bobcats wrestling team lost their two dual matches this past weekend by a combined score of 48-15. They first lost to MAC rival Kent State on Friday, 23-9 at The Convocation Center, followed by a 25-6 defeat at the hands of Bloomsburg.



Bobcats celebrate Gary Trent Day on own terms

On a day where the Ohio Bobcats honored the most prolific inside scorer in school history, Gary Trent, the current squad did their best impressions, pounding their way to a 69-65 victory over the Miami RedHawks Saturday at the Convocation Center.



Golden Flashes black out in Athens

The Ohio men’s basketball team (14-4, 2-2 MAC) beat the Kent State Golden Flashes (12-5, 2-2 MAC) in dominant fashion, 83-53, with five players scoring in double figures. Led by point guard DJ Cooper and guard Walter Offutt, the Bobcats turned in their most impressive performance of the season.



Zips outlast Bobcats

Although they were in control for much of the game, a cloud of foul trouble, subpar rebounding, and poor shooting surrounded the Ohio Bobcats before coming back to bite them in the final minutes, allowing the Akron Zips to pick up a 68-63 win Saturday afternoon at the James A. Rhodes Arena.



Bobcat Wrestlers Throttle Northern Illinois

The Bobcats had been struggling as of late, dropping 3 of their last 4 matches to begin the MAC schedule 0-2. However, they got back on track Friday with a 27-6 throttling of Northern Illinois at the Convocation Center.



Bobcats rebound for first MAC victory

The Ohio Bobcats defeated the Buffalo Bulls 60-50 on Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.



Little things bite Bobcats in MAC opener

Although he is one of the smallest players in Division I basketball, 5-foot-6 Jordan Crawford of the Bowling Green Falcons would come up biggest with a game-high 16 points as BG downed the Ohio Bobcats 67-57 at the Stroh Center Saturday night.



Colonials Claim Bobcat Land

It was a game of runs, but for the Bobcats their final run came too late as they fell to the Robert Morris Colonials 70-67.



Bobcats’ resilience should inspire school spirit

When Ohio kicked off their season in September, the team had a different feel to it. That feeling carried all the way through December, as the Bobcats secured their first bowl game victory, capping off what is arguably the best season in the program’s history.



Bobcats fall short in Motor City meltdown

Despite leading the Northern Illinois Huskies 20-0 at halftime, the Ohio Bobcats were unable to secure their first MAC Championship victory in 43 years.



Bobcats struggle late against Top-10 Louisville

The Ohio Bobcats lost a tough road contest after a late-game collapse against the #7 ranked Louisville Cardinals, falling by the final score of 59-54. After a low scoring, tight defensive game throughout, the Bobcats (3-1) couldn’t hang on to a six point lead with just under four minutes left. Turnovers and fouls plagued Ohio throughout, both of which factored heavily into Louisville (5-0) fighting back for the win.



Bobcats win Battle of the Bricks on Senior Night

The Ohio Bobcats were able to best bitter rival Miami for the sixth consecutive year by a score 21-14, and for seventeen seniors, it was their last victory achieved at Peden Stadium.

It wasn’t the cleanest win for Ohio on the season, but a strong second half on both sides of the ball gave the Bobcats the edge in the Battle of the Bricks.
