Bench propels Bobcats to BracketBuster victory

Seeing as the bench has struggled all season long, the ‘Cats (15-13, 5-8 MAC) looked as if they would struggle just to stay in the game; however, the bench came through in a big way, outscoring the starters 44-20 and the Raiders’ bench 44-6 to lead the Bobcats to a 64-59 victory at their ESPNU BracketBuster game.

Bobcats outshot but not outscored

After a mid-season stretch in which they won 15 consecutive games, the third-ranked Ohio Bobcats had won just three of their past nine games before hosting a two-game series with the fifth-ranked Cyclones of Iowa State.

Two sides: expanding the NCAA Tourney

It happens every year: a “bubble” team is outraged because they were snubbed for the NCAA Tournament. Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg said last year that anyone who thought his Hokies didn’t belong was “clinically insane.” Should the NCAA switch to a 96-team tournament?

Golden Flashes win nail-biter

In what looked to be an early blowout, the Ohio Bobcats (9-6, 0-1 MAC) turned their play around in the second half only to lose to Kent State (10-5, 1-0) in the final seconds. The Bobcats beat IUPUI on Wednesday with a last-second shot, but lost to the Golden Flashes , 62-60, in a game that featured a similar ending.

Talking hockey with Coach Dan Morris

Ohio University’s men’s hockey team has had a great season thus far. As of Nov. 19, the Bobcats are 17-2 and are on an eight-game winning streak. Much of the Bobcats’ success can be attributed to Head Coach Dan Morris. Speakeasy sat down with Morris to find the reason for his team’s success and, of course, to talk some hockey.

Men’s hockey team defeats Stallions

The Western Michigan University Stallions came to town to take on the Bobcats in an ACHA match-up in Bird Arena. The two games between these teams began at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 7. The 4th-rated Bobcats took to the ice, looking to extend their four-game winning streak, while the 20th-rated Stallions looked to at least split the two-game set to pad their record and improve their ranking.

Yankees hungry for WS title

The Bronx Bombers are at it again this year. After a brief hiatus from the MLB playoffs, the New York Yankees entered this year’s playoffs hungry for their 27th World Series title. After losing four games to the Cleveland Indians in the 2007 American League Division Series and missing the postseason altogether last year, Yankees GM Brian Cashman did what he could to ensure that his team would be as successful as possible this year.
