Five of Jay Rosenblatt’s short films will be screened at the Athens Film Festival: “The Smell of Burning Ants,” “Phantom Limb,” “The Darkness of Day,” “The D Train” and “Afraid So.”

“Experimental Grab Bag,” one of the final competition shows of the Athens Film Festival, kept viewers’ minds active and alert. The unique pieces left ample room for the audience to use their own imagination to interpret the films’ purpose.

“Small Town Heroes” consists of six films that give viewers a new insight into the criteria of a hero. The short films present both comical and heartwarming characters to impart to audiences their ultimate message: pursue your passions.

In the competition show, “Landscapes Lost and Found,” short films take the scenic route, exploring cities and countries across the globe. Eight films total, each uses a different approach to describe the venues they center on.

The Athens International Film Festival was in full throttle as the competition’s showing of several short films progressed. On Wednesday, April 28, 2010, six short films were exhibited for the competition showing, “Family Sagas.”
